Well, my crafting has come to a complete stop this week. I've been to the ER twice over the weekend and then went to the hospital yesterday. Turns out I have not one, but two infections. Awesome. So after lots of antibiotics and lots of fluids, I'm feeling more mobile today.
Some friends are coming over for a crafting party on Friday. If you're in the Dayton/Cincinnati area and want to meet up - let me know!
Also, I wanted to show you something I'm really proud of. My friend and I got together last week and I was able to convince her to try sewing again. Anyway, after a little persuasion and determination she made these:
I'm happy for a few reasons (a) they look awesome (b) she gave sewing another chance (c) they are so freaking cute! Way to go! Her successful pillows inspired me to try something that scared me - zippers! I still hate them, but did you see my cute travel bag? It wouldn't have been perfect without the change pocket w/zipper.

Travel Bag
So with all the snow and ice we've received here in Ohio, I was in need of a warm thoughts. My husband and I are going on a trip with some college friends to the Dominican Republic in August. With that thought, I decided I really need a travel bag for the trip. Here's the beauty from the outside (don't stop you HAVE to see the inside)
Last night, I was laying out the fabric trying to decide what I wanted. When we travel, I always have my Kindle, so it needed a home. When you go through the airport, they need your ID (or in the hotel, you have a hotel key when you go to the beach) and finally a place for cash/coins.
I was finished with the design, when my husband asks me if I could make a place for his iPad. Here's the inside:
Close-up of the pockets
This was my first attempt to sew plastic is a nice holder for an ID or keycard (or MyPanera which happened to be sitting the closest to me). Under it is.... a zipper pocket!!! This was my second zipper attempt. I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to understand how zippers get sewed in. In the end, I did it my way which is not how other sites show you. I like it with the little yellow ends.
The Kindle pocket
The other side is 100% dedicated to the iPad. That pocket is huge but he had it with him at work, so I had to go by my measurements from last night. I think it might be on the big side.
Ok, now the fashion show with it.
I'm still learning how to take pictures of my goods. Have you made anything to get you in the wishful-warm-weather mood? I know I'm ready to go on vaca.... tomorrow
